Steam breaks two year old record

Steam breaks two year old record

Feb 19 2020

Gaming platform Steam has just broken a two year old record for the most concurrent users.

The platform, which is clearly growing in popularity, revealed that SUnday was the busiest day ever. The Steam Database twitter handle indicated that over 18 million users were online on Sunday evening.

“Steam has broken its record for most concurrently online users that was held for two years,” read the statement.

“Previous record was 18,537,490 users. It’s still increasing! But there’s about 1 million less players actually in-game (≈5.8mil vs ≈7mil two years ago).”

So, what’s the catch with there being less players? Well, it arguably points to some bot traffic. That said, the numbers are still impressive. And what are people playing? Here’s a list of the top ten most popular titles on Steam…

1. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
2. Dota 2
3. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds
4. Grand Theft Auto V
5. Monster Hunter: World
6. Rainbow Six Siege
7. Destiny 2
8. ARK: Survival Evolved
9. Football Manager 2020
10. Team Fortress 2
